Glasgow Central Tour
The volunteer gardeners had a wonderful experience on the
Glasgow Central Tour.
The guide was very entertaining and knowledgeable. There is lots of work going on a present to enhance the Victorian station beneath Glasgow Central and the volunteers plan to return when the steam train is in place. A highly recommended visit.
Beith Bear
The bear was carved by Pete Bowsher using Western Red Cedar, it stands around 2.5m tall and weighs nearly 1/2 tonne. Why a bear? Like many towns in the late 1800s and early 1900s, there was a dancing bear which visited Beith and we should never forget the suffering of these poor beasts who were made to dance for public entertainment. The bear is intended to be a memorial to that effect.
